Although, most of the companies are trying to create an EV infrastructure in India which will allow the growth of EVs in the country, one of them is Ather Energy. These are committed to setting up public fast-charging stations which are accessible to all the customers. Ather aims to create India’s biggest EV charging platform for the ease of the public.

Till June 30- 2022 charging at an Ather Grid was offered free of cost to everyone. They have organized an app to support named “Ather Grid app” which allows all electronic vehicle owners to directly ascertain the available and unavailable locations on the home screen.

At present, Ather has nearly 200 fast-charging stations across 24 cities in India. States such as Chennai, Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Coimbatore, Kochi, Kolkata, Mysore, Calicut, Ghaziabad, Jaipur, Gurugram, Indore, Trichy, Nasik, Visakhapatnam, Surat, Noida, Trivandrum, Raipur, Goa, and Ahmedabad. By the end of the year 2022, it has been planned by the company to expand to 50 cities and they will have Ather Grid installed in all the markets before starting retail operations.

The launch of the next generation public fast-charging infrastructure, Ather Grid 2.0 was announced by India’s first intelligent electric scooter manufacturer “Ather”. In the current scenario, Ather Grid comes with enhanced features to support scale and future faster-charging capacity. The public fast-charging network installation process has already been initiated in Bangalore, and Chennai, and will be soon available across cities in India. To the users or buyers Ather Grid 2.0 provides an enhanced and scalable charging experience. It is designed to redefine the future of public utility by creating extraordinary experiences.

Ather Grid 2.0 Objective

The objective of the Ather Grid 2.0 is to establish and support future fast-charging capacity, advanced protection and faster bug diagnosis. Ather Energy also strives to support over the air updates allowing to introduce new features and bug fixes to all systems on the field in a real period. As it has been designed to handle degradation, its long-lasting efficiency has been improved to make it more suitable for installations exposed to extremely harsh environmental conditions. With a strong emphasis on instant diagnostics, the modular design also enables field serviceability of vehicle parts. So, to provide on the spot availability of all charging locations in every city the Ather grid will continue to stay connected to everyone at all times.

Ather’s Future Goals

Ather Energy company’s future goal was announced that they will be continuously focusing on evolving and providing the best customer experience with the introduction and advancements of Ather a Grid 2.0. Because of the advancements, they will be able to soon achieve their ambition of setting up 500 fast-charging infrastructures by the end of the next two years. They have also announced that they will make the infrastructure available to all players who adopt the connector standards. Ather team is discussing the same with multiple partners who are contributing to this project.

As a result, it has become very difficult to begin the Ather Grid networks’ expansion. It was also difficult to make charging infrastructure convenient and easily available to consumers to increase the adoption of Electric vehicles. It has also been announced by the Company while setting up a station in Delhi that they will make stations available in locations like malls, cafes, supermarkets, and tech parks to ease the public charging experiences. This is also helping customers in setting up home charging solutions in their apartments and buildings. Nearly, Rs 1,13,416 is the cost of Ather Energy’s 450 Plus electric scooter in Delhi.
