Although Alexa had become quite popular due to its advanced technological features amongst the users it’s demand gradually declined when the privacy control system was implemented into the device by the management. Users started questioning this concept of privacy adjustment and many of them were against the idea of introducing this feature. They feared that maybe their private data could be leaked out easily by the use of unauthorized activities.
As there was a speedy decline in the sale of Alexa then the manufactures came up with this fruitful feature where users were allowed to control their privacy system adjustments according to their vital mode of preference. With this new advancement in the working feature of Alexa, there was a speedy increment in the sale of this voice assistant in the market and once again it gained the trust of users in the market scenario.
It seemed to be a good initiative when users were given the preference to customize their privacy settings according to their own choice but numerous of them still didn’t seem to be convinced. Still, there were several aspects where this voice assistant device had several pros and cons according to the researchers.
According to a research professor from Pennsylvania University this technology of privacy settings adjustment was termed to be not understood easily by most of the population and hence the stated issue to be a serious matter.

He stated that people are getting panicked easily without knowing the detailed information about this feature and thus rather than this they should understand the basic concept of why this feature had been introduced for the users by the company. Professor also stated that it’s a very good feature where users can easily adjust their privacy according to their choices.
So to get some appropriate opinion a sample survey was conducted amongst the users where few of them were allowed to adjust their privacy settings and had the option to delete the file of their preference. Also in a different survey users were allowed to customize their content such as choosing the source of data and adjusting the volume of the device.
The final report of this survey had to be presented in ACM Conference to get a finite set of views and opinions and a decision had to be taken by the company. But unfortunately due to the sudden outbreak caused due to this global epidemic further this conference is canceled and the discussion is still on hold.
